Finally scored an ‘01 SE wheel. Wrong wood color to match the knob but IDGAF, it feels and looks so good. It was a semi-local and convenient buy too! I was autocrossing in Myrtle Beach yesterday and the seller happened to be 30 miles South of the event!
Here’s what’s left of his ‘01 SE. It’s being turned into a very serious drift car.

I loved the leather Nardi wheel on my ‘00 - probably one of the best steering wheels I’ve had.

But why an SE though?

I like having the Nardi badge on the middle steering spoke versus it being in the center of the wheel as the ‘00 SE does.

The Nardi-Mazda wheel found in FD RX-7s, late-model Proteges, and NB Miatas is really a well-designed wheel. It’s getting hard to afford a used one that’s in relatively-good condition!

Why did he chop up an SE, is probably what he was asking.

Dunno, it might’ve been a salvage/rebuilt title judging by the damages it’s taken already before he started cutting it up.

No doubt, it looks like a great comfy wheel with because of the thicker roundel.

Did you buy his teardrop knob, too? If not, you know I'm buying! :D

No, I didn’t purchase it, but it sadly appears that someone else did buy it the day the seller posted the ad!

What’s the going price in the US currently?

I paid 150$ for mine, which seems to be about right for something with 8/10 condition. 200$ for 10/10. There are Japanese variants on eBay selling for 85$ but then you have to pay 100$+ in shipping to the US.

Yeah, shipping kills it. Unfortunately, because airbags are restricted materials (explosives), they reqiuire special shipping procedures, which cost a lot more. I think EMS on one of those would be like $50 if not for the airbag.
